State Authority for Geospatial Information (ASIG) in cooperation with the National Agency of Protected Areas (AKZM) has published in the National Geoportal, on the topic "Species distribution", the layers:

• Distribution of species (Fauna)
• Distribution of species (Flora)

Geospatial data have been collected in the framework of the project "Institutional support for the management of protected areas in Albania", funded by the Italian Development Cooperation, and implemented by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), with the aim of creating an infrastructure for standardization, integration and dissemination of national biodiversity information.

The publication in the National Geoportal of geospatial information, on the topic of Species Distribution, serves the realization of ASIG's mission for the establishment of NSDI in Albania, decisions for the protection of flora and fauna, especially endangered species, as well as scientific analysis of trends and potential risks to biodiversity.
